It’s Almost Here!!
After many, many months of negotiating, ego pounding, and unparalleled posturing, the biggest fight of the millennium is very nearly here. Next Saturday August 26, the once-retired all-time great boxer Floyd Mayweather, will take on UFC’s biggest star Conor McGregor, in Las Vegas Nevada, with the fortunate in attendance, and millions more watching from around the planet.
In the last few months we have been witness to an escalation of name-calling and animosity from both sides, as the sensationalized rivalry intensifies ahead of the big day.
No mater what your point of view, it will either be the boxing match of the millennium or a money grabbing abomination. Let’s face it you have a match up between a once retired boxer (Mayweather) with a 49-0 record, facing a man who is the UFC’s biggest draw, completely fighting out of his professional genera, and has never taken part in a professional boxing match.
What’s the Estimated Purse?
The figure depends on a number of different variables, including pay-per-view sales, various world pricing structures, ticket sales, etc. However if PPV revenue stays in line with estimates, the fight purse is likely to be worth a whopping $300 million US, with total revenues possibly in excess of $500 million US. What’s the Split?
A confidentiality agreement is in place and the exact split will not be revealed. However, reports suggest the difference may be a 70-25 or 75-30 split in Mayweather’s favour. A massive payday for both, indeed!!!
